Saturdays are THE 'in thing' here at SimplyDance. We have a whole range of classes to offer your children and discounts for those super keen students. Our classes are designed to encourage students to develop their confidence, balance, spacial awareness, social interaction, teamwork, fitness and dance vocabulary. We believe everyone should be able to enjoy dance, so that is what our team endeavours to achieve in each and every class. Take a look at our schedule of classes below and the age ranges too, just to make sure you're in the right class. (Nanna coming along to the street class would be fun for sure, but probably a little distracting.)
Our students are offered chances to:
- Take examinations with the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA)
- Perform in our annual Show!
- Take part in the annual Magna Carta day display in the High Street, Egham.
*after the summer break Classes reopen on saturday 10th september16!*
9:45am to 10:30am Dance Movement Class (Starting ages 3-9 years)
A fun and vibrant class that introduces children to the joys of dance and movement. We teach fun party dances which our students can use for social dancing and basic latin and ballroom dances too. With games and tasters of all dance genres this is the perfect introductory class for your little moppets. (I know it sounds fun but no adults allowed!)
10:30am to 11:15am Freestyle Class (Starting ages 4-17 years)
Here we see the 3 styles of dancing all rolled into one awesome class, slow dance, street dance and fast dance. We teach our students the vital skills all dancers need from balance to body movement, from jumps to spins with the latest song choices and some classic 'tune-age' too. With two groups in this class we'll be sure to have the right level for your little one, however old and whatever their experience. The emphasis is on fun and expression in this wicked class.
11:15AM TO 12:00PM LATIN & BALLROOM CLASS (STARTING AGES 9-17 YEARS)
With the help of our wonderful teachers, dancing like the strictly stars is easy in this amazing class. On the Latin American side of things we teach our fantastic students the Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive and Samba, and their varied and fiery rhymes. The Ballroom side of things involves the smooth and elegant Foxtrot and Waltz, the sharp and exciting Tango and the fast-paced and fancy Quickstep-Fed and Ginger eat your heart out. Alongside this we also teach a number of other Cabaret dances for fun and sometimes showcases such as the Charleston, Merengue or Lindy Hop.
12:00pm to 12:45pm Street Class (Starting ages 9-17 years)
This class has a whole host of styles of street, giving our students a taster of each if these fascinating and popular techniques. If you want to learn to know your popping from your locking, your b-boying from your vogueing or learn your whacking from your break moves, then this is the class for you. Full of 'sick sounds' (apparently) and "tidy moves" (I have no idea but I think it means good) -this class will show you how to dance with swag and flow.
12:45PM TO 2:15PM FREESTYLE PLUS (STARTING AGES 9-17 YEARS) (INVITATION ONLY, £10pp)
This more Advanced Freestyle Class is a continuation of the earlier Freestyle Class for those on higher grades. Here we see the 3 styles of dancing all rolled into one awesome class, slow dance, street dance and fast dance. We develope our students skills; from balance to body movement, from jumps to spins with the latest song choices and some classic 'tune-age' too. With creative, developmental and set work this challenging class is suitable for those with experience.
