It's that time of the week when we look back at something for no real reason other than we forgot to tell you about some news a little while back. On October the 14th our Principal James Montgomery popped along to Gem's Dance Academy in Birmingham to teach two workshops for their competitive students. We caught up with him to find out how it went.
"Well I have to say that the students at Gem's crushed the sassy Street choreo I threw at them. As soon as Katy Perry's Swish came on they were all ready to hit the routine hard and they certainly did that...and THEN SOME! We then went straight into the Freestyle choreo, attacking that head on too! These girls worked so hard on a challenging collection of moves with advanced jump and spin combos and created some fantastic styling themselves, it was an awesome workshop. Thanks to fellow IDTA teacher Gemma Welch for inviting me to teach for her at her wonderful school, it was such a pleasure to work with your talented students." James Montgomery
As if that wasn't enough fun, the very next day Vice Principal Louise Usher joined James to teach a Charleston Master class at the fabulous Aura Dance Studios in nearby Solihull. We asked Louise how it went.
"It was so much fun assisting James with the Charleston Master Class, we both had such a fab time and it was great learning opportunity for me. All of the attendees got so involved and looked like they had a blast, there was so much energy and laughter in the room I didn’t want it to end! It was also lovely to have to opportunity to visit such a stunning studio, Aura is beautiful. Thank you to our IDTA colleague Kate at Aura for inviting us. We had a great time and hope to get the opportunity to share our work with your fabulous students again sometime." Louise Usher
Well look out, our teachers coming to a Studio near you soon!
